Comments: Billy Crystal's 61* is a wonderful movie about the Home run Chase of 1961. If you like baseball, you owe it to yourself to check out this movie. Good emotional story.

Comments: My wife gave me this for Christmas - she works at Borders and got it for free from a Sony rep, so she tossed it into my stocking. It's more than just a concert DVD - it has Angus & Malcolm Young talking about each of their album releases - even the bad ones. Always been a big AC/DC fan - their Back in Black album was the first rock album I ever got back in 1980.

Comments: My wife and I love Alf. I was 21 when this first aired, and when it was new, it was the shit. Without boring you with my life's story, my wife wouldn't be my wife without Alf, I believe. Anyway, the show is funny, but I give this DVD set only half a star because the company that put this out used edited syndicated versions instead of the NBC originals. A MAJOR downside to this DVD set, that's for sure. The show is still funny, but for someone who knows the episodes inside out, it's very annoying to see them edited like this. :(

Comments: This may be one of the finest DVD sets ever for some of the finest horror/suspence movies ever. It's all 4 Alien movies, spread over 8 DVD's with a 9th simply for extras. Alien Resurrection isn't that great, but it actually would be more expensive to buy the others that I liked on their own than to get this set. This set cost me $69 to buy from Amazon - I couldn't pass it up. Over 44 hours of extras? If you even remotely like the Alien series, you should get this.

Comments: The original Austin Powers movie was one I didn't see in the theatres. My friends got me to watch it on DVD, as is the case with most people. It's the best of the three - the "Fish out of water" thing for Austin is one of the strongest comedic points of this movie - something that was impossible to replicate in the other movies. If you get just a single Austin Powers movie, get this one.

Comments: Obviously, this was bought for my daughter. We started showing her Baby Einstein DVD's when she was just under a year old. As I write this, she's 19 months old, and has gotten bored with most of them. But when she was watching them - she loved this one.

This "farm" based one was one of her favorites. We're convinced she learned to say a few animal words from this video. COW!

This was the last one of these we bought for her before she started getting bored with them. This one still holds her attention at 19 months where most of the others do not.

Comments: What can I say? More Babylon 5. One of the greatest TV series ever. :)

Comments: This is it. The best season of Babylon 5. Solid from the opening frame to the last. The show was originally going to run 5 seasons, then they thought it was 4, so they wrapped it up here. Then they found they were to have a 5th season. Anyway, this is one of the most intense series of episodes I've ever seen anywhere. BUT FOR GOD'S SAKE - you must watch all of Babylon 5 in order - if you try to watch just this season, you won't have any clue what the hell is going on.

Comments: This was an attempt to "revive" Babylon 5. It had been off the air for a little while, and this was a proposed pilot to a new B5 related series. It had an unknown crew, and I think that's where most of the people didn't catch on - they wanted "their" Babylon 5, and this was not it. Did have an appearance by the late Andreas Katzulas as G'kar - his final performance in that role before is death.

This also took some flak from B5 fans bout a weapons system in their ship, but I wanted to state I felt it was a natural extension of the Rangers philosophy of combat. The concept worked well for me.

Comments: This is a collection of (all but one of) the various made for TV Babylon 5 movies. The Gathering is the series' pilot episode, and the others were produced during the show's run. A Call to Arms is actaually a setup for the failed B5 spinoff series, Crusade. These aren't near as good as the main TV series, but they're worth a watch. Probably only worth it if you're a series hardcore. My favorite is In the Beginning, which tells the story of a lot of things that are talked about or referenced during the series - a really nice use of the TV movie format to fill in the blanks like that. If you haven't watched the series, you should probably stay away from these (except maybe the pilot).

Comments: Ah. the new Battlestar Galactica. I loved the old show when it was new, but it's pretty unwatchable now. This new series though takes the concepts of the original, and twists most of it around - it is the perfect definition of a successful "reimaging". It is Battlestar Galactica. It is NOT your father's Battlestar Galactica at all.

This Season 2 set also contains the first 10 episodes of Series 2. A lot of fans didn't much care for that, as they felt they were being ripped off by only buying half the series at once. But I got a good deal on the set, so it wasn't that bad for me.

Comments: I've been a big Billy Joel fan since the mid 70's when I was only around 10 or so. Been listening forever. Since Billy Joel is no longer making rock music, I wanted to get his videos. Coupled with the other disc, this covers everything, I believe.

Comments: One of my all time favorite British Comedies. Black Adder has extremely intelligent humour - not the usual banal stuff that most people like (although there are the occasional bathroom humour joke here too). I was pleased to get it all in one box set for a decent price.

Comments: An old Sabbath concert video that used to have the name "A Decade of Black Sabbath". Was filmed during their 1978 Never Say Die Tour, and given the reputation of the band for being bad then, this is quite a good concert video.

Comments: Tells the story of Black Sabbath from 1978-1992 in interviews and conceptual videos. Would have been nice if they hadn't botched the widescreen transfer, but still - a nice archive of Sabbath music.

Comments: Series 1 of the 1970's BBC Sci-Fi show Blake's 7. This show is the height of bad special effects. Some of them were downright atrocious. Advanced installations were quite clearly location filming at a power plant or something. However, the stories were great, and this show was NOT afraid to kill or dispose of their main crew, unlike most other Sci-Fi shows. That gives it a danger that you don't always get in other series, as you know they'll always survive.

I won't go into the plot much, as there would be great spoilers. But if you're a fan of British TV, and like Sci-Fi give it a chance.

One remark though - these discs are Region 2 - they won't play on the majority of US DVD players. Keep that in mind.

Comments: My daughter loves Blue's Clues. We have several episodes saved off to DVD from being recorded on TV. There have been two hosts, Steve & Joe. When the show transitioned between the two hosts, they did it over three episodes. At the time we bought this, those episodes were not seen by us, so I picked up this DVD, which has all of them, plus a couple others.

Comments: This is the 10th anniversary episode of Blue's Clues. The series is now called "Blue's Room", as they decided a few years ago to make Blue "talk", and is now a puppet, and isn't animated anymore. My daughter doesn't much care for Blue's Room, she liked the original.

A couple of months before this aired, there was a public tour of malls where the actor who plays Joe on the show met kids, signed autographs, and they showed a clip from this. My wife took our daughter to see that, so we wanted to make sure we all watched this together.

We did, and our daughter was completely riveted to the show, which meant it was an instant purchase on DVD.

Comments: Bull Durham is probably my favorite sports movie of all time. What makes this work for me is that it's got some wonderful baseball stuff in here - and even though it's really a love story, the greatness of the baseball stuff overshadows the love story part for me. You cannot go wrong with this one.

Comments: It's Pixar. It's brilliance. Buy it. Don't know what more I can say. Buy this now. You owe it to yourself.
